Imagine
making one manageable, enjoyable lifestyle change at a time...growing
physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually. Imagine turning your life's
most cherished and worthy ambitions into a workable plan - an adventure
that you live daily. Imagine having the support of others in your local
community, and a personal mentor to guide you. You've just imagined
a Passion Team.
Passion Teams are small community-based teams organized to support
members in learning to live passionately.
Members support each other in developing whole, healthy, satisfying lifestyles.
The leader of each Passion Team is a trained person with a genuine desire,
commitment, and ability to help others learn skills for a more passionate
life.
Creating Community
The
power of Passion Teams is the way in which they draw people together.
Many people in today's society live very isolated lives. They work
side-by-side with others they barely know. They attend school with
students whose names they can barely remember by the end of a semester.
They live next door to families they've never really met. It's
natural for us to want to belong; to know others and to be known, and
this kind of anonymity is painful and counterproductive in every way.
The large and amazingly diverse world in which we live is an unimaginably
vast resource. Everyone has much both to learn and to teach, and to
tap into this power we must connect.
Passion Team Leaders
Passion Team leaders need not be highly educated or prominent figures
in a traditional sense. They must without exception, however, be commited
to interacting with others in such a way as to promote personal growth,
and they must have skills to teach and support others. For this reason,
Team leaders all have a background in Passion
Training.
Continual Learning
When a person has enough training to lead a Passion Team, this is not
the end of their training, but a new beginning. They can lead teams
to teach those skills to others, but these leaders are also students.
They learn how to enjoy holistic
fitness as part of passionate living; their teachers, in turn,
are learning coaching
and counseling skills. Those who have such skills learn further
healing methods. Everyone, in this way, has both students whom they
teach and a teacher by whom they are taught (except for new students
who are just beginning to participate).
Personal Support
Many
of the world's great stories of learning suggest that it is natural
and beneficial for the individual to have a close relationship with
a mentor. Rumi's true spiritual and poetic voice came about as
a result of his relationship with Shams of Tabriz; Jesus' disciples
were all ordinary working men until they became his close companions.
Today, many people seek out friends from whom they can learn, while
others develop relationships with rabbis, ministers, life coaches,
and therapists. There appears to be a fundamental human need for guidance
by someone who knows us well, and Passion Teams foster such relationships.
A Global Network
Passion Teams around the world are interconnected by this network of
mentors and students. If a student relocates, for example, they will
have support in finding an existing Team near their new home, or in
establishing one themselves.
